A Different Kind of Law Firm


Jany K. Jacob is the founding member of JANY JACOB PLLC. She was born in Bombay, India and educated in the United States. She is a licensed attorney in federal and state court and her practice includes both business law and civil litigation. Ms. Jacob completed her undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University in Earth and Environmental Science and submitted a senior thesis on environmental geochemistry. She also completed coursework in International Studies and Economics. Ms. Jacob then worked for the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa where she taught Environmental Education to Senegalese educators in French and drafted a secondary school curriculum that was implemented by the Senegalese Ministry of Education and Ministry of the Environment. She was also invited to teach international environmental issues to educators in the Gambia. While working abroad, Ms. Jacob regularly collaborated with members of the U.N. working in diplomatic capacities to strengthen ties between India and West Africa.

Ms. Jacob received her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College where she focused on business, employment, immigration, environmental and international law. She also worked for the U.S. E.P.A. in Washington, D.C. and did stints with two large Seattle, Washington law firms before founding JANY JACOB PLLC in Bellevue, Washington. She founded this firm out of a deep respect for the entrepreneurial spirit and to help businesses take the first step in a global economy. For that reason, the firm offers more business services than traditional law firms and does so at a reasonable fee.

Ms. Jacob has studied many languages and cultures. In particular, she is fluent in French and Malayalam (South India) and also conversant in Hindi. She has been a member of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington since its inception and is also a member of several industry and trade groups. Ms. Jacob frequently gives legal seminars to clients and other attorneys alike and has published numerous legal resources. She has also been a columnist for the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. She enjoys foreign travel and participating in Indian community activities on the East Side.
